In April 2017, George White Junior School joined the Inclusive Schools Trust. This means that
we’re now an academy, working as part of a trust with our neighbours, Lionwood Junior School and
Lionwood Infant and Nursery School. In November 2017 we welcomed Drayton Infants to the trust.
How does that change things? In terms of what your children experience, becoming an academy will give
us more flexibility to improve things in the coming years. We’re still George White Junior School and we’re still
here to make sure your children get a great education.
One change you need to know about is that we don’t have school governors anymore, we have trustees
and members instead. It’s great for George White that two of our governors have taken up leading
positions within the Inclusive Schools Trust. Eileen Hansell, our former
chair of the IST. In addition to this, former George White governors chair both of the IST committees
Eileen is chairing the Finance and Audit Committee and our former vice
chairing the Achievement and Standards Committee. This means that George White will have a really
strong voice within this exciting new organisation.
