Rights Respecting Schools

All children, young people and adults should know about Children’s Rights (UNCRC, Article 42)

We are working towards achieving our bronze level award. The Rights Respecting Schools Award puts children’s rights at the heart of schools in the UK and embeds children’s rights in the daily life of the school, empowering children to grow into responsible active global citizens.

George White Junior School is proud to be working with UNICEF to create a safe and inspiring place to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive.

Unicef Rights Respecting Schools Award embeds these values in daily school life and gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens.

Unicef is the world’s leading organisation working for children and young people and their rights. In 1989, governments across the world agreed that all children have the same rights by adopting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). These rights are based on what a child needs to survive, grow, participate and fulfil their potential.

George White Junior School pupils learn about their rights by putting them into practice every day. A Rights Respecting School models rights and respect in all its relationships.
